Trek To Rajgad..

We went to Rajgad in the month of July which is ideally the best time, since the rains just start in, not too much wet, weather is cloudy, ideal for trekking. It takes about one hour for guys in good health and about 2-3 hours if you want to enjoy each and every bit of your trek just like we did.

Rajgad is always about staying overnight. There is a Ganpati Temple and Government built cottages to stay. Off course you need to take a 2 bed sheets with you. There are lots of people for food provision. Never book your food on the foot hill of Rajgad, he costs too muchJ. Go up and enjoy. You get ample food on the top.

When we started trekking I had my new camera with me and I had decided to enjoy every bit of the trek. When I started I did not understand but I saw these trees with huge leaves. Apparently these were planted for some purpose; they were just the size I was looking for.

We hardly get to see crows with black necks in the city area, it had just drizzled and thi row was sitiing and enjoying the weather…just as we were

The fun going in July is all about the weather..while trekking we saw this only lonely cloud which was pretty close to us since we have started to gain height

I have trekked Rajgad many times..i was always fascinated by this hole in the suvela machi..but I never got into the details as why it must have happened but to enjoy its beauty…as we were trekking it was afternoon and clouds had started turning down..that’s suvela machi

Once we reached the top it was the one of the most awesome views I had ever seen and the excitement of coming to Rajgad..

It was almost 5 pm when we reached the ‘Bazaar peth’(market place of the fort) through the ‘Chor Darwaza’(thief’s entrance). It was just a cool and damp place..just an ideal place to relax youself…clouds gathering on you from all sides..

Rajgad is one of the greatest strategic forts Shivaji Maharaj had owned. You can see many other forts from the top, this was view of Torna fort and the sun peeking itself from its back..and leaving a gold lining on the fort

Relaxing at the Ganpati mandir we had plans for Bale killa(small fort), which was the main presidential palace of Shivaji Maharaj. It was not a big trek..just about 20 mins…

When we got up early(well not that early J)…we caould see the huge Torna on the western side…partially in clouds

On the eastern side you can see the Huge Purandar fort standing amidst all others..

This is the place where we were..all have to stay if an overnight stay ..

This is the place where we were..all have to stay if an overnight stay ..

When you go on the Bale killa…there is nothing above it…when you come on the top you feel like you have come a lot closer to Shivaji Maharaj…every step you take..makes you feel that 200 years Maharaj walked on the same steps…he must have sat here…there…

Out of conscience I was touching every step I was climbing..giving me a feel that I was touching his feet every step I took…if you want to feel that you need to be there…

From the top you can see the huge mountains of Mahabasleshwar at south…and being the best season…we had clouds BELOW us…

That’s me…

That’s Sandeep, we tried almost 6-7 pictures to get that one right…!!!!

Well that was my experience ...tell me somthing more about yours....
